Mariah Carey, the rock singing sensation, is creating waves all over the world with the latest single “Touch My Body” from her upcoming album E=MC2 and she is all set to amass her 18th number one position on the charts of the Billboard Hot 100 singles. The song has lately dipped to the number 15th position, but is expected to regain its position in the top of the charts very soon as it is now available for digital download. The record for the most number one’s position in the Billboard charts is with the Beatles with 20.
There have been a lot of discussions and deliberations among her fans regarding her new album and in particular the song “Touch My Body” and Billboard feels that it is just a matter of time before she goes one notch above Elvis Presley in the chart of the Billboard Hot 100 Singles. The new album E=MC2 is expected to be released on April 15 and Mariah thinks that she will be able to beat the Beatles record one day. Tickets to her shows and concerts are even now selling like hot cakes.

The Everclear band that shot into fame in 1995 virtue of their superb songs, lyrics for Gen-X teens, massive tour scheduling and belligerent self-promotion have given the nod to perform for a benefit concert, after lot of discussions, to be held in Seattle on April 5th. The show is organized to benefit the New Horizon Ministries of Seattle and the funds raised through this concert will be used by the New Horizon Ministries in their ongoing efforts to help and serve the needy street youth population in Seattle.
The benefit show for Seattle’s New Horizon Ministries will be held in the new location of the Mars Hill Church, which was the former site of Tabella Nightclub. The show kicks off at the Mars Hill Downtown in Seattle at 8 pm and the tickets to the show are currently on sale and fans, who are 18 years and above, will only be permitted for the benefit concert.

Kanye West has offered his contribution in Lil Wayne’s album “Tha Carter III” which is under production for a long time. The album will be released under the label of Universal in May this year. Kanye West broke the news of giving appearance in three tracks of Lil’s album in a recent TV interview. Wayne is hoping that the album will do good sales as he has put a lot of effort into the album.
The artists who had featured in this album include Corey Gunz, the famous Tyga Jibbs, the “A Bay Bay” singer Hurricane Chris, Shanell, Mack Maine, Lil Mama and Kidd Kidd. Wayne, the rapper has also got the support of Alchemist as well as Cool and Dre. The first single from Wayne’s new album “Lollipop” is one of the top debuts Hot R&B / Hip -Hop songs of the week. The Hannah Montana star and daughter of the famous country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, wants to change her given name of Destiny Hope Cyrus to her adopted name Miley Ray Cyrus. The 15 year old latest singing sensation has filed papers in the Supreme Court in Los Angeles to change her legally known name from Destiny Hope Cyrus to Miley Ray Cyrus. It is reported that Billy Ray Cyrus and his wife Leticia have filed the legal papers last Friday at the Los Angeles Supreme Court. Her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, in the legal filing letter has requested for keeping the commonly used name as her official legal name.
The TV star and young singer has said that her father had given her the nickname “Smiley Miley” when she was a baby and used to call her so because of her sunny nature. Miley Ray Cyrus plays the role of a teen who does not reveal her true identity of a singing personality in the Disney Channel’s hit program “Hannah Montana”. Both Miley and her father Billy comes across as friends who are in the same business and both have been very successful in their careers so far. Anyone who watches the father daughter pair will definitely fall in love with them at the first instance itself.

Van Halen who was not at the pink of his health earlier in the month, had to postpone 20 of his scheduled shows. Now, his fans can be pretty pleased as the band has announced fresh dates for these forfeited shows as they had promised earlier. Van Halen and his band have decided to begin its tour with a performance on April 19 at Las Vegas, a charity concert for Tiger Woods’ Tiger Jam charity event that is done annually. The tour programmer for Van Halen and his band said that all the tickets purchased for the cancelled programs will stand valid for the rescheduled music concerts.
Van Halen will be performing all through the US in his rescheduled itinerary that runs from the middle of April through to the 2nd of June. Van Halen had postponed some shows citing no reason and the fans were dejected about the postponement. Later, it was revealed that the postponement was due to some medical tests that the lead man Edie Van Halen had to undergo for an undisclosed illness. Van Halen has been in the news some years ago for substance abuse, alcoholism and also had to undergo treatment for cancer. The last road show by Van Halen with David Lee Roth, who performed in concerts after more than two decades, was one of the highest tour grosser’s of 2007.

The online release of Ghosts I-IV, the new album of the well-known industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails collected $1.6 million in its first week of release. Almost 800,000 transactions occurred in the opening week, including paid and free downloads, advances for vinyl releases, CDs, boxed sets etc. The band became free agents in last October and Ghosts I-IV is their first release after this change. The sale of the album started on 2nd March on the website of the band. The album contains 36 tracks and the first nine tracks can be downloaded free of cost. The entire digital album is sold at a price of $5.
NIN is planning to release a Double CD worth $10 by second week of April this year. A deluxe edition of $70 as well as autographed version of the album is due for shipment on May 1st. The last studio release of Nine Inch Nails was “Year Zero” and it debuted on the Billboard 200 at No. 2 position in 2007 April by selling 187,000 copies. This time the band has decided not to reveal the sales statistics to the Sound Scan who provides the data for compilation of the album charts to Billboard 200.

Willie Nelson has made an addition of about more than 30 US dates to his tour itinerary. This legendary singer has about six shows in Texas, his native place, this month and many performances in Virginia and North Carolina. He will tour Europe in April and May and will re-start his U.S tour with a show in Manchester on June 13th that will kick start a tour across the country. His tour is expected to stretch into September with his schedules in California. Willie Nelson is a Grammy Award winner and is producing albums even at the age of 75 years.
Nelson’s most recent album is “Moment of Forever” released this January. This album is produced by Kenny Chesney and features some original songs of Nelson and a couple of tracks penned by Chesney along with interpretation of the songs by various well known musicians and song writers. Last October, he released an album “It’s Magic” in collaboration with Don Cherry, the singer and professional golfer. In 2007, Willie Nelson was bestowed with the BMI Icon Honor at the Annual Country Award ceremony of the Performing-Rights organization. Nelson is a good example to many singers as his passion for singing keeps him going even at this age.

Kid Rock is expanding his tour with his band by involving special guests in it. The tour named the Rock and Roll Revival Tour started on January this year, featuring Kid Rock and the Trucker Band performing medley of hit songs. He has started including his guests into the show. Some of the guests who took part include lead singer of J. Giles Band, Peter Wolf, Run D.M.C’s Reverend Run, guitarist Dicky Betts, etc. They performed in Atlanta on Tuesday and will tour various U.S cities till late May. On the show in Madison Square Garden in New York City, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame singer is expected to perform.
After his tour in U.S, the next destination for Rock is U.K. This European tour will be his tour to U.K after 6 years. The tour will support his release of October 2007 namely “Rock And Roll Jesus”. This album has topped in the listings of Billboard 200 and has given inspiration to many rock hits. During the first week of release, Rock and Roll Jesus had sold more than 170,000 copies. The video- shoot for the album will start early next month. Rock released his first live record “Live Trucker” in the year 2006.

The Toronto concert which concluded recently is the last time the Spice Girls will be performing on stage as the Spice Girls. The much awaited reunion tour of the Spice Girls was cut short due to some problems between the Spice Girls and it has now become official that the Toronto show in which the Spice Girls revealed their sassy costumes will be the last time they perform together on stage. The little Sugar, Cruz, treated the audience with yet another mind blowing performance and the Canadian fans were lucky that these pop divas chose Toronto as their last stop of their reunion tour.
The Spice Girls in their parting message on their website said that they have come to the end of the road and that their eyes are filled with tears of joy as well as sorrow. They said that their reunion tour is testimony to the fact that dreams can be real and said that through their tour they were able to satisfy their loyal fans all over the world. They said that they hope that the Girl Power will continue for generations to come and are pretty sad to say goodbye, even though they hate to use the word.

Hannah Montana, the hottest singing sensation is creating the CD /DVD of her concert tours. The concert named “the Best of Both Worlds Concert” by Hannah Montana / Miley Cyrus was held in the fall of 2007 in different parts of North America. The CD/DVD combination will be released through the Walt Disney Records on April 15th. The tour grossed about $54 million and the 3D film of this concert was a box office hit and generated more than $63 million. In this CD/ DVD, 14 tracks are included, in which seven performances are given by Miley Cyrus and the remaining seven features the artist in Hannah Montana appearance.
The DVD of “Best of Both Worlds” contains the video for the tracks “Rock Star” and “Start all Over” along with some behind the scene footage and photographs of the tour. Miley Cyrus has agreed to perform in Nickelodeon’s kid’s choice award 2008 on March 29th. The event will be conducted at Pauley Pavilion in the UCLA campus and Jack Black is expected to host the program. Hannah will be featured in the songs like “Rock Star”, “Just Like You”, “Nobody is Perfect” etc. The opening act of the CD/DVD will be done by Jonas Brothers.
