Raconteurs to perform at the Treasure Island Festival.

The second Treasure Island Music festival will take place at the Titular Island in the San Francisco Bay on September 20th and 21st.  The Raconteurs and Justice have consented to do performances in this festival. Justice will do their performance on September 20th along with Hot Chip, TV on the Radio, Aesop Rock and Foals. Raconteurs will headline the festival on September 21st alongside The Kills, Vampire Weekend, Tegan & Sara, and Tokyo Police Club Etc. The organizers have arranged for eco-friendly transport facilities from San Francisco to the venue and the ticket sales for the festival will start from 30th May.

Mickey Hart Band kicks off US tour

Mickey Hart, renowned for his percussion and drumming expertise in the Grateful Dead band is set to take the world by storm with his 20-city tour. For a start, they will begin their foray at festival performances in Santa Rosa, California and Lawrence, Kansas. The month of July will see them mostly playing in a variety of US theaters as well as festivals throughout the East Coast and Midwest culminating in a final concert which will take place at the 10,000 Lakes Festival. Hart’s plans took shape just as the Rhythm Devils, another separate band established by both Hart and Grateful Dead’s drummer Bill Kreutzmann is releasing their inaugural two-disc DVD edition.

New Kids on the Block announces extensive North American Tour

New Kids on the Block have re-started going on a concert tour after a gap of fifteen years. After their shows at Z100 Zootopia in New Jersey and the KISS 108 FM show, they decided to tour the northern parts of US. The group will start their extensive tour of North America in September. The ticket sales for the tour shows are expected to start soon. The group which ruled the music world in 1980’s broke up in 1994. After 14 years, they got re-united and released a single called “Summertime” from their new album which will hit the stores during fall.

New Pittsburgh Music Festival to kick off in early August

The first ever American Music Union festival is to be held on August 8-9 in Pittsburgh’s Southside Works and news is that the front man of the Red Hot Chili Peppers band Anthony Kiedis will be the host of the show. The organizers of the new Pittsburgh Musical Festival has been able to rope in artists like Bob Dylan, the Duke Spirit, the Raconteurs, the Roots, Black Mountain, NASA, the Black Keys and many more to perform in this two day musical fiesta. The tickets to this festival have been on sale from May 16th. A clothing retailer American Eagle Outfitters is co–producing the show with a concert promoter from Los Angeles.

Kenny Loggins plans 30 concerts this summer

Kenny Loggins, a versatile singer and songwriter, has decided to undertake a summer tour in order to support his last studio album “How About Now” that he released last year. The veteran performer’s concert tour picks off with a performance on May 16th at San Rafael in California and will be touring extensively in the month of July and August as most of his committed concerts are during these months. Tickets to his concert tours are currently on sale and fans who are interested in soft, country sound rocking music will surely be entertained by Kenny Loggins. He has so far received 12 platinum album awards.

More artists geared up to perform at CMA

 

The 43rd annual Country Music Awards is all set to roll on the 18th of May at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and it is a glamorous night when the country singers will be presented various awards for their contributions in the up bringing of country music. Toby Keith, LeAnn Rimes and Kellie Pickler are the new artists to be added to an otherwise formidable galaxy of country music artists who will be performing during the gala evening. The host for the CMA awards event is Reba McEntire who will be hosting the show for the 10th time. The fans who have bought tickets to watch the show will be in for some wholesome entertainment for the entire evening.

Donita to promote debut solo album

The L7 headwoman Donita Sparks is launching a tour to promote “Transmiticate,” her debut solo album which was released in February. This solo album was recorded in Los Angeles and the producer of the album is Ethan James. Donita will perform in Long Beach, CA, on May 23rd and her tour will cover 10 major cities by the middle of June along with the back up band called “The Stellar Moments”. She is also doing some club tours on the eastern parts of the country.

 

 

Donita Sparks has explained the title of the album as a made up word which means “to communicate through transmission”. The album has soft songs like “My Skin’s is too thin” and “Creampuff” as well as some rock songs. Donita has made her debut album powerful and amusing. L7 which was an all girl rock band was started in mid 80’s and went for an indefinite break in 1999. This solo album is Donita’s first release after the L7 days.

Elton John rockets in to Alaska

As part of his year 2008 “Rocket Man: Number Ones” tour, Elton John is slated to perform at the Sullivan Arena this coming May 28. This is deemed Sir Elton’s very first performance in Alaska. After this show, he is expected to perform at the Carlson Center in Fairbanks the next night. Previously, he expressed his intention to perform in US states where he has never sang at before. He was also slated to add tour dates in Vermont and Delaware.

Tickets are expected to sell out fast, so get yours soon! A six-ticket limit will be imposed and ticket sales start today on May 5. Prices vary from $56.50 to an affordable $116.50 says AEG Live, the concert’s designated promoter.

Monolith festival heads to Red Rocks once again

The Denver music fans are in for some wholesome entertainment as the Monolith festival is all set to take place at the Red Rocks Amphitheater on 13th and 14th of September. The Monolith festival is to be headed by Justice and Devotchka and there are plenty of indie pop and artists in the line up, according to the event organizers. The organizers has taken maximum efforts and discussed with a lot of artists and the result is that artists like Sharon Jones, Vampire Weekend, Neko Case, Silversun Pickups, Dap Kings and Band of Horses have already said yes to perform at Red Rocks.

 

There is news filtering in that Tokyo Police Club, Superdrag, Del tha Funky and the Kills have also been roped in by the organizers to perform in the Monolith festival. The way the artists are being signed to perform, it seems that the tickets will be sold out very quickly.
