Eagles at the end of the regular season

The Philadelphia Eagles took the last game of the season by a huge score of 44-6. They were playing against the Dallas Cowboys and we were expecting a good game. It was a good game, but only if you are an Eagles fan. Nothing against the Eagles, but if we could’ve had them win with an exciting finish, that would’ve been better. But this way, Dallas can’t say “we were close”. Jerry Jones, the owner of the Cowboys, says that there will not be a new head coach, despite the fact that the Cowboys have had big meltdowns the last several years in the playoffs. They’re used to winning, but that’s the way it goes I guess. Philadelphia finally gets back to the playoffs and will play against some other difficult teams. Keep watching.

Conan

 conan.jpg

Though he’s never charged tickets for his Late Night Show, Conan O’Brien is scheduled to make the transcontinental journey from East to West early next year when he takes over the helm of the Tonight Show in LA. Hopefully he takes that altruistic offer with him when he heads out west. Moreover (and more importantly), hopefully he does not alter his show’s style too  much with the new time slot.

Lions Not Looking for History

The Detroit Lions seem to be headed for an awful offseason. They haven’t yet won a game and they have just one chance left. They have to work hard to get that game too. They have lost many games this season, and some of them have been really close. They nearly took a couple of really good teams, including a few OT losses. They already have the most losses in a row for an NFL team in several decades. It’s been a rough year for Detroit and they hope that next year they can actually get ANY team to win a lot of games and take it!

Cardinals Looking For History

 boldin10.jpg

The Arizona Cardinals are in the playoffs and one step closer to winning their first Super Bowl title ever. Though they are the oldest team in the NFL and have switched locations a couple of times, the Cardinals have never won the Super Bowl. They have 2 NFL Championship titles to their name, but those are accredited to the time before the AFC and NFC merged to become the NFL. Now, behind the steady arm of pro bowler Kurt Warner and his three pro bowl wide receivers, the Cardinals may have their best chance yet to claim their first Super Bowl Championship.

White Christmas for cold people

Seeing White Christmas is like stepping into a kind of weird time machine. Based on all the reviews I’ve seen, it seems like it’s almost a shot-for-shot replay of the original musical and movie. The music is great and the story is just as fun as ever. But you’d think they could come up with something else that’s new.  It’s hardly even special. It is one of the more successful shows playing right now on Broadway, but that’s not saying too much.  Then again, people like to see an old standard performed just as it used to be. So I guess it’s not a mistake to use the old staging techniques this time around either.

BCS Games

 bcslogo.jpg

Last Sunday the BCS selection committee did their job and chose all of the BCS bowl games. After Florida’s convincing win over Alabama for the SEC Championship last Saturday, they’ve been granted the bid to play against the Oklahoma Sooners in the BCS national championship. As for the other big bowl games, Alabama will palay Utah in the Sugar Bowl, Penn State against USC in the Rose Bowl, and Virginia Tech against Cincinnati in the Orange Bowl. Find the full BCS schedule right here.

Jimmy Taylor

Sometimes, you just need to relax a little bit. James Taylor has some nice calming music that might just be the thing you need during the hectic holiday season. He sings folk-rock songs and it is a really nice thing to have someone to say “it’s ok, don’t worry”. It can be very relaxing this way. He released a new album of cover songs of his this last year, which might be good for the Taylor fan on your list or just for those who seem to need to dial things back a little bit at this point. Listen to a couple of songs and maybe you’ll feel the same!

Chicago Bears

 berashelmet.jpg

With the way things seem to be going for the Chicago Bears right now, there may be only four games left to get your tickets to see them play live. After a crucial setback in their loss against the Vikings last week, the Bears are not necessarily in a “win the rest” situation, but they’re pretty close. Between Minnesota and Chicago, the Bears have the easier schedule. The Vikings are also suffering from a few key player suspensions.

Get tickets NOW

There are so many Broadway shows closing at the beginning of next year that a thought just struck me.  Anyone who wants to see a Broadway show should get tickets right away! There isn’t much time and for shows like Spamalot it is going to be sold out so fast that you may already have trouble buying tickets. Hurry up! There are a dozen shows or more that are closing, due to the bad economy and low tickets sales in the last two quarters or so. So again, hurry up before it’s really too late!
