The contribution of Sir Elton John for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign is against law, as he is not a citizen of U.S, according to an American Government watchdog and its discussions with law makers. Elton John raised $2.5 million through tickets sales and advertisements by staging a concert named ‘Elton and Hillary: One Night Only’ on 9th April at the Radio City Music Hall for the democratic senator’s campaign. But, according to judicial procedures of U.S, raising funds for election by foreign nationals is not permitted and Elton is a British citizen.
However Hillary’s spokesperson said that Hillary’s campaign is compiled with law as a loophole in law allowed campaigning by foreign nationals from 1987 provided they volunteer their time for the candidate in an compensated basis and the concert of Elton was well within the statutory rules for the election campaign in U.S. Elton has expressed his support to Hillary during the concert by saying “there is no one more qualified to lead America”.

Elton John was clearly a fan of US presidency candidate, Hillary Clinton when he held a concert in honor of the Democrat hopeful. He thinks that she is most qualified candidate to lead the US as president and has held a rousing concert on April 10, 2008 to show his support. To date, the concert sold 5,000 tickets and raised $2.5 million at Radio City Music Hall.
Amidst screams and yells from fans (and Hillary’s supporters), the British musician belted out famous tunes such as “Your Song” (also made popular by Ewan McGregor in the soundtrack Moulin Rouge), “Border Song” and “Benny and the Jets”.
Elton John was clearly pleased to be performing for his friend, Hillary, and has been quoted to declare that he is indeed a staunch Hillary supporter. The US candidate was all smiles when she reiterated her campaign statement to a cheering crowd. Her husband, former US president Bill Clinton, as well as daughter Chelsea, were also present to lend their support to the former First Lady.
