Johnson Is ‘Ready To Go’

johnson.jpg

His 8-game National Football League suspension over, Johnson has started preparing for both his Cowboys debut and his 1st match since the Super Bowl, after he started on the defensive line for the Chicago Bears. The player has been practicing for a couple of weeks, but things are different now that he knows he will be playing Sunday against the Giants.

Yesterday, Tank Johnson told his coach Wade Phillips he was heady to go. Tank Johnson looked eager as one of 3 players that practiced in their game pants.

Wade Phillips said Tank Johnson will play mostly on 1st and 2nd downs, getting in for about one-3rd of the match in place of starting nose tackle Ratliff.

Wade Phillips explained that he is not in the rotation. The coach thinks he has got quickness and strength. He will see where he is pass rush-wise. In case Tank helps the team on the pass rush, the coach is going to put him in there.

The Chicago Bears released Tank Johnson in late June after the player was pulled over for speeding and tested for driving under the influence. After that, Johnson spent 2 months in jail for violating probation on a gun charge.

Charges for his 2nd run-in with the law were never filed, however, the Chicago Bears decided Johnson was out of chances. After the season started, the clock began ticking on an 8-game League suspension related to the weapons charges. Tank Johnson signed with the Dallas Cowboys on September 19.
